Comparative writing is at the core of an understanding of art. It is the basic assignment of the research papers. Choose two works of art from the text to compare. Your “selected bibliography” must include at least four in depth books related to your chosen works. (These may be e-books.) Magazine articles and internet sources can be excellent additional sources but do not replace books. Develop an original, thoughtful thesis, a reason why it is compelling to compare these particular works of art.
Research papers will be evaluated on the following three criteria:
1.Research: Show that you have learned, discovered, read, and absorbed information that is appropriate to the class. Any use of another author’s ideas or words must be properly noted or cited.
2.Critical thought: Make a compelling argument supported by your own observations and assessments. If you are using ideas that you found in a source that your used in your research and you rephrase that idea in your own words, you should still make a citation of where the idea came from.
3.Literary expression: Present, organize and communicate your arguments for maximum impact and support of your thesis and document.
