ENG-105 Checklist Tool for the Review Writing Assignment
Choose a new ADHD website (of your choice or see the discussion wrapup post or announcement for this week for more examples) and 3/5 criteria in the week 4 DQ 1 post (authority, objectivity, currency, coverage, accuracy)
CHADD

NIMH

Must be from one of these websites.
Your thesis statement should mention the website, the criteria you are using, and how well the site meets or does not meet these criteria
An effective thesis would be something like but not identical to: “PsychCentral.com provides excellent objectivity, credibility, and currency throughout its website about ADHD.”
Here is an outline that might help everyone revise your thesis statements and essays:
1. Introduce and summarize the site you selected and include a thesis statement at the end of the paragraph, which states THREE specific criteria you’re using to evaluate this website AND how well the site meets these criteria or not. Some examples of criteria you can use to evaluate the site include: accuracy, currency, objectivity, currency, coverage, ,etc. You choose THREE. (THIS WILL BE YOUR INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH). l
2. Evaluate the piece of writing (THIS WILL BE YOUR THREE MINIMUM BODY PARAGRAPHS)
“BODY PARAGRAPH 1: State CRITERIA #1 you selected, as well as if/how/to what degree the site meets or does not meet this criteria (offer examples from the site to support your claims)
To add outside support, perhaps define the criterion and/or compare what the scholarly sources say about evaluating websites to what you see in the site.
“BODY PARAGRAPH 2: State CRITERIA #2 you selected, as well as if/how/to what degree the site meets or does not meet this criteria (offer examples from the site to support your claims) To add outside support, perhaps define the criterion and/or compare what the scholarly sources say about evaluating websites to what you see in the site.
“BODY PARAGRAPH 3: State CRITERIA #3 you selected, as well as if/how/to what degree the site meets or does not meet this criteria (offer examples from the site to support your claims)
To add outside support, perhaps define the criterion and/or compare what the scholarly sources say about evaluating websites to what you see in the site.
3. Evaluate the site’s effectiveness as a whole, reiterate your thesis statement, and wrap up the essay (THIS WILL BE YOUR CONCLUSION PARAGRAPH)
One source should be the website you are reviewing. Another source should be a scholarly source to define criteria or credibility. Other ideas: other ADHD websites for comparative support like the CDC.
