In lectures 4 through 6 we explored the relationship between culture and law. For your third prompt for this class, please explain the differences and similarities between two legal cultures. You will first need to define “legal culture” before explaining two different legal cultures. After comparing these legal cultures in general terms, please use an example (i.e., a historical or contemporary law or case) to further show the differences between these two legal cultures. In your conclusion, explain why comparing legal cultures is important for understanding social stratification in legal outcomes (i.e., arrest or conviction rate differences, etc.).
Be sure to cite at least two of the class readings in your response to this prompt. You will also need to cite two external sources that you find on your own. Feel free to also cite any of the lecture slides.
